Fun fact 1/6/2017

Water consumption limits tree growth. Trees transport water from their roots to their leaves through a cluster of internal capillaries that work much like a straw; at a certain point though, gravity and the tension of upward water movement equalize. So how do California Coastal Redwood trees become so tall? They extract the moisture from the low fog directly into their leaves.
