Fun fact 1/4/2017

In the 19th century, medical students had to bring their own cadavers for dissection. William Burke (1792–1829) was a bodysnatcher operating in Edinburgh, murdering those whose bodies he subsequently sold as cadavers. He gave his name to the verb burke meaning, ‘kill secretly by suffocation or strangulation, or for the purpose of selling the victim’s body for dissection’, as Burke is said to have killed his victims.
